The Human Comedy

I was born in Livorno and I spent my childhood in Piombino , a small industrial town located in the middle of the tuscanian coast.

I was raised in a place where making fun of each other and teasing each other were the main diversions and probably the best ways to cope with the small and the big problems in life.

This experience defenitely helped me develop a taste for the tragicomic side of the human behaviour which is the main trait of my photography work.

As a young kid I used to go to the beach near  some steel plants and  power plants and I spent a lot of time observing the people there.

This was the main input for my first project called “The human comedy” that began on those same very beaches where I grew up, those places where I can relive and the  paradox of spending the holydays and relaxing in that degraded environment.

In 2018,after 30 years  as an art director for international advertising agencies, I decided to fully commit to my photography project .

I quit my job and started long journeys with my old vespa along the italian coasts locations, catching many aspects of reality, from the most frotesque to the most poetic ones.

During the last ten years I have been creating a universal family photo album where everyone has a place, none excluded.

I am fascinated by that portion of the  world that doesn't want to accept the changes due to the globalization , people who tries to stick with the past, good and bad,and by those people who spend their holidays or the week ends in degraded locations appreciating that atmosphere .

I'm intrigued by the paradoxes and the incongruities that we all show trhough our behaviours. I'd love that my photography could be an input to judge less,to take ourselves less seriously, to learn how to laugh about our wonderful imperfections.
